The Assistant Facilities Manager supports the oversight of all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the safety, functionality, and overall condition of the property. This role assists in managing daily maintenance activities, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance, and supporting the maintenance team to ensure efficient operations. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, this position plays a key role in maintaining building systems, supporting team development, and ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment that enhances both the guest and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
· Support the maintenance of all guest rooms, public areas, and facilities to ensure they meet Cabot’s luxury standards
· Respond promptly to maintenance-related guest requests, minimizing disruption to the guest experience
· Assist in preparing rooms and facilities for VIP arrivals and special requests
Operations & Department Oversight
· Support daily maintenance operations, including work orders, preventative maintenance, and general repairs
· Assist in ensuring all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical) operate safely and efficiently
· Help maintain cleanliness and organization of back-of-house areas, mechanical rooms, and workshops
· Coordinate with Housekeeping and Front Office to support timely room readiness and issue resolution
Team Leadership
· Support the supervision, coaching, and development of maintenance team members
· Assist with training on safety procedures, equipment use, and maintenance best practices
· Reinforce adherence to safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
Administrative & Reporting
· Assist with scheduling, staffing coordination, and payroll support
· Maintain work order systems, preventative maintenance logs, and equipment records
· Support tracking of maintenance inventory, supplies, and vendor services
· Assist with reporting related to maintenance activities, safety compliance, and operational needs
Qualifications
· Previous experience in maintenance or engineering within a hotel, resort, or similar facility
· Strong working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
· Experience with preventative maintenance programs and work order systems
· Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner
· Some leadership or supervisory experience preferred
· Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
· Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and on-call support
