
Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for the pre-operative patient and to efficiently prepare the surgical patient for the intra-operative procedure. Responsible to assure all nursing documentation, laboratory testing, EKG's and H&P's are complete and in date. Works closely with all staff, anesthesiologist and surgeons provide continuity of care. Prepares each patient in a timely manner, following all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care. Assures that proper communication is given to the appropriate surgical team member for special patient needs. Maintains competent nursing skills to ensure safe quality patient care. The RN assures that the philosophy, mission, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of Fort Smith Mercy Medical and Mercy Outpatient Surgery Center are followed. Is sensitive to the needs of patients, families and fellow co-workers; plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with age specific needs, plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with any identified cultural diversity needs (such as religions, lifestyles, beliefs, physical capabilities, and cultures); plans and provides professional nursing care for patients by assuring appropriate and effective pain management; and supports the mission of Mercy. Co-workers are expected to abide by safety and infection control policies to maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
