JOB TITLE: Pre-K Teacher Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Instructional Services / Assigned Site
REPORTS TO: Site Principal
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: 7 hours/day
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: 6 months working with children in preschool setting preferred
Skills: Good communication and organizational skills; teamwork; must be able to successfully complete Food Handlers Permit requirements by BAPS on hire.

Ability to build and foster harmonious rapport and work cooperatively with District staff and the public while achieving the objectives and goals of the position. Ability to handle problematic and/or difficult situations professionally by communicating with the appropriate person.
Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities with 95% attendance.
Primarily inside working conditions with some exposure to environmental conditions during duty assignments. Some outside duty assignments required with exposure to pollen, heat, cold, wind, humidity or other weather conditions. Exposure to bodily fluids.
The noise level in the work environment may be loud at a standard level for students of this age.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee will often be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Employee is required to act quickly to ensure student safety.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs, as may be required in assisting children, rearranging classroom furniture, etc.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
