Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for leading work-winning teams and delivering accurate, high-quality estimates? Downer is seeking an experienced Pre-Contracts and Estimating Manager to lead the estimating team based out of Eastern Creek, NSW. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for helping the business meet its planned workload and revenue targets through successful and sustainable tender submissions.
This role will oversee the preparation of tenders and cost estimates, manage client expectations, and supporting the Sales and Business Development team. You’ll lead a small team and play a key role in driving business growth through strategic engagement and accurate submissions.
Key responsibilities
Lead the estimating function and ensure timely, accurate responses to RFTs and RFQs.
Prepare first principle cost estimates and identify project risks and opportunities.
Draft and present tender conditions and participate in review meetings.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, industry groups and internal stakeholders.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring
Proven experience in estimating, ideally within asphalt or road projects.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with first principles estimating expertise.
Excellent leadership, planning and time management abilities.
Ability to build relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Personable, detail oriented and passionate about winning work.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Benchmark estimation software desirable.
