Job Description

SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Manage the pre-commercial inventory using a WMS and seed processing, returning the highest quality of requested seed at the right stage and time.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the cleaning and treatment processes and members of that team, by balancing customer demands and capacities.
  • Monitor continuous Improvement efforts, by offering and implementing improvement techniques/ideas, create training and cross-training programs ensuring a well-balanced team.
  • Generate/update/maintain SOP’s, and plan for and communicate long-term goals and objectives to all members of the team.
  • Cross-train with commercial production supervisors to ensure processes are current and are aligned with the fast-changing of the Company’s processing standards.
  • Continually manage quality data to ensure the seeds meets or exceeds industry standards and make appropriate adjustments and or corrections when discrepancies are noted and organizing the correct project to correct errors.
  • Use a WMS to create, monitor, and close production orders.
  • Ensure all inventory and statuses are accurate addressing any discrepancies provide corrective action to minimize/eliminate inventory and status discrepancies.
  • Create reports that may include production updates, quality data, capacity reports, recovery data, etc.
  • Will be part of miscellaneous project teams including but not limited to production improvement and systems support.
  • Attend regular meetings with internal customers providing updates and progress reports.
  • Travel and/or drive on behalf of the business.
  • Ensure Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines, Procedures and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
  • Meet attendance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of production experience (prefer seed processing experience)
  • WMS experience is strongly desired
  • Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask is imperative.
  • High proficiency using MS Office products (Excel and Access).
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work varied environmental conditions (loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp, etc.), including outdoor work and field work with exposure to pollen, and warehouse environments.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts as needed (including weekend, night shift, and holidays).
  • Domestic travel which will involve overnight travel as needed.
  • Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
