Job Description

The University of New Haven is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track, Practitioner in Residence position in the Department of Psychology’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program beginning in Fall 2022. This is a full-time position whose primary responsibilities will consist of teaching in the counselor education program.

The successful applicant for this position will teach selected graduate courses in counselor education and contribute actively and effectively to student growth, service, and program development.

With a remote working option, the successful candidate will teach a 18-24-credit load of CMHC courses during the academic year. Responsibilities will also include student advisement, course development and maintenance activities, recruitment and retention activities, attending and assisting at on-campus residencies, synchronous meeting requirements, and supporting program/departmental projects and accreditation activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education & Supervision doctoral program by the time of the appointment (August 2022)
  • A clear and well articulated counselor education identity
  • Current state licensure and/or ability to obtain counseling licensure
  • Direct experience in clinical mental health counseling service provision
  • Online graduate level teaching experience
  • A commitment to issues of social justice advocacy and diversity
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supervising master’s level counseling trainees
  • Substantial experience teaching in an online environment
  • Experience developing online course content
