The Family and Community Health (FCH) Department in the School of Nursing seeks candidates for an associated faculty position on the non-tenure practice track. We invite individuals prepared at the doctoral level (PhD or DNP) to apply to the Associated faculty (Practice Track at rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor).
Applicants must have content expertise in sexual reproductive health, women’s health, and/or nurse-midwifery. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in the Women’s Health Gender Related (WHGRNP) Nurse Practitioner program, Nurse-Midwifery program, and our BSN and MPN programs.
The Women’s Health/Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner program focuses on the primary, sexual, and reproductive health care needs of women from adolescence through the advanced years, concentrating on promoting and maintaining wellness. The Nurse-Midwifery program prepares graduates for midwifery practice focused on providing family-centered, comprehensive care for fundamentally healthy people and their families. The BSN and MPN programs both include courses focused on sexual reproductive health and nursing of women and infants.
The Practice Professor may have teaching responsibilities in both the entry-to-practice (BSN & MPN) and graduate programs. Experience in academic program leadership, curriculum development/evaluation, academic teaching using multiple modalities (didactic, online) and working with an interprofessional audience of physicians and nurses is preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate numerous sources of complex information is required. Excellent writing skills are essential. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills needed.
The candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or be eligible for licensure, with acquisition of the RN license within the first semester of employment. For those who will teach in the Women’s Health/Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner (WHGRNP) Program, the candidate must also be licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in Pennsylvania or be eligible for licensure, with acquisition of the CRNP license within the first semester of employment. Current national board certification is required. For those who will teach in the Nurse-Midwifery Program, the candidate must be licensed as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) in Pennsylvania or be eligible for licensure, with acquisition of the CNM license within the first semester of employment. Current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) is required.
Qualifications: Academic teaching experience is required and should meet minimum qualifications for the Practice Professor track:
§ Achieves consistently high-level quality teaching via peer review and student evaluations.
§ Identifies and applies creative teaching and evaluation methods within the curricular framework identified by the SON.
§ Demonstrates leadership in curriculum development.
§ Demonstrates excellence in depth and breadth of knowledge in the content being taught.
§ Contributes in significant ways to the design, implementation, and evaluation of programmatic educational offerings within the SON.
§ Demonstrates impact in his/her area of expertise through a consistent record of publications, consultations, presentations, and panels at local and regional forums.
§ Demonstrates excellence in student advising and mentoring.
§ Mentors faculty in other tracks (e.g. lecturer positions) and/or mentors teaching assistants
