Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our IU Health Medical Group team in the role of Practice Operations Specialist in our Hospitalist division. This role is hybrid, with 3-4 days onsite required in the Metro Region (University Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, Methodist Hospital, West Hospital, Fishers Hospital and North Hospital.)

The Practice Operations Specialist serves as a key operational partner supporting the Hospitalists Division across the Metro region. In this role, you will collaborate with physicians, medical directors, and administrative leaders to ensure efficient provider operations, support business initiatives, and drive operational excellence across multiple hospital locations.

This position combines analytics, operations, and relationship management, making it ideal for a professional who enjoys working with data while building strong partnerships across a complex healthcare environment. You will play a critical role in provider scheduling, performance reporting, operational project support, and divisional initiatives that impact more than 200 providers throughout the region.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key organizational initiatives, including Epic-related projects and ongoing operational transitions within the Hospitalists Division.

Minimum Candidate Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 2-4 years professional office experience (preferably healthcare related), and familiarity with health care organizations required. Masters of Health Administration or Masters of Business Administration may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Accounting, Business, Management, Science or Health Administration concentration preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare operations, hospital administration, physician practice operations, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Background in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, operations management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of healthcare analytics, operational performance metrics, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional projects involving multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), or a related field preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Provides support in practice operations for the organization and reports to the Service Line Administrator.
  • Will monitor budgets and practice targets, evaluate and implement policies and procedures, manage projects, and work with all levels of management and physicians to accomplish goals.
  • Provides interim managerial support in the absence of a Practice Administrator and or Clinic Manager.
  • Coordinate and maintain provider schedules to ensure optimal operational coverage across the Hospitalists Division.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze provider scorecards, operational reports, and performance metrics.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions and reporting tools to support business and operational decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, medical directors, and administrative partners.
  • Support departmental projects, process improvement initiatives, and strategic operational efforts.
  • Assist with provider compensation reporting, productivity tracking, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple hospital locations throughout the Metro region.
  • Independently manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality, accurate work.
