Job Description

Practice Manager – Full-time – maternity contract

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to help lead the team and support the smooth running of the practice whilst the practice owner is on maternity leave.

This role would suit a confident and compassionate individual who can bring structure, organisation, and strong leadership to the team. Clinical support will remain in place from the Lead Vet, Head Nurse, and Head Receptionist, along with monthly check-ins and ongoing support from myself during my leave.

Previous experience in a veterinary practice is not essential; however, proven leadership ability, strong organisational skills, and the ability to motivate and support a team are qualities we value highly.

You will oversee the operational management of the practice to ensure the delivery of high-quality animal healthcare services, while working closely with the business development partner to achieve business objectives and maximise the practice’s potential.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice
  • Lead and support both clinical and non-clinical team members
  • Manage rotas, diary coordination, and staffing levels
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
  • Drive practice performance, efficiency, and client service standards
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical governance
  • Act as a key link between the practice team and the wider support network

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a veterinary or healthcare management role (preferred)
  • Is highly organised, proactive, and resilient
  • Has excellent communication and people management skills
  • Is confident managing rotas, workflow, and team coordination
  • Thrives in a busy environment and enjoys problem-solving
  • Is passionate about creating a positive and supportive team culture

In return, we offer a 20% colleague discount at Pets at Home, Vets for Pets, and The Groom Room, as well as access to additional discounts and cashback offers. You will also benefit from in-house career development opportunities, along with a pension scheme and holiday allowance.
