Job Description
Since 2015, Agilytic has helped organizations reach their goals through the smarter use of data and AI. With over 300 successful projects completed in Belgium and abroad, we strive to be a leading boutique firm delivering high-impact solutions for marketing, operations, and finance decision-makers.
Our Platform Engineering & BI practice has been a major driver of our growth, and we are now looking for the entrepreneurial leader who will take it to the next level. As Practice Director, Platform Engineering & BI, you will own the vision, the commercial agenda, and the talent agenda of the practice. You will be the locomotive: the person who sets the direction, recruits and develops top engineers, and turns opportunities into a profitable business line.
We need a builder, not a caretaker. You will work side-by-side with the founding partners to scale the practice, sharpen our positioning on data platforms and analytics engineering, and make Agilytic the reference Platform Engineering & BI boutique in the Benelux market.
While regular presence at client offices is required, we offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Our main offices are in Brussels' city center, and we gather there every Friday to foster team exchanges and strengthen our collective culture.
What we expect from you
- Vision. Define and articulate where the Data Engineering practice should go over the next three years: service portfolio, target clients, technology stack, partnerships, and differentiators.
- Drive. Be the engine. Set the pace, raise the bar, and refuse to let things stall. We need someone with a knife between their teeth who creates momentum rather than waits for it.
- Growth. Build a sustainable pipeline and deliver on ambitious revenue and margin targets. You will be incentivized on the commercial development of the practice.
- Talent. Attract, recruit, coach, and retain the senior and mid-level engineers we need to deliver at scale. Build the bench so we are never the bottleneck to growth.
- Delivery excellence. Set the standards, methodologies, and quality bar across all data engineering engagements.
Key responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and KPIs of the Platform Engineering & BI practice
- Drive business development: shape offerings, qualify opportunities, lead proposals, close deals, and grow key accounts
- Build and lead a team of data engineers and platform engineers, from junior consultants to senior architects
- Define how we use AI within the practice, both in how we work internally and in what we deliver to clients
- Establish a recognizable point of view on data platforms, analytics engineering, and modern data stacks (cloud, ETL/ELT, BI, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)
- Coach team members on both technical and consulting skills, and create clear career paths
- Partner closely with the Managing Partners on cross-practice initiatives and on the broader Agilytic growth agenda
- Represent Agilytic externally: speaking engagements, partnerships, client executive relationships, and thought leadership
Requirements
Requirements
We are looking for strong candidates with a master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline and at least 10 years of professional experience, including significant time in consulting and/or building a data engineering practice or team.
You should bring proven experience in:
- Leading and growing a Platform Engineering & BI practice (or equivalent), business unit, or team
- Owning commercial outcomes: pipeline, proposals, closing, account growth, margin
- End-to-end delivery oversight on complex data platform programs
- Hands-on credibility with modern data stacks: cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Databricks/Snowflake/Fabric, ETL/ELT frameworks, orchestration, and analytics engineering (dbt, Power BI/Tableau, etc.)
- Recruiting, coaching, and retaining senior technical talent in a tight market
- Engaging C-level stakeholders and shaping their data strategy
Additional requirements:
- An entrepreneurial track record: you have built something from the ground up, scaled a practice, or carried a clear P&L
- Fluency in English (our internal working language) is required, plus fluency in French or Dutch. Strong proficiency in Dutch is particularly valued.
- Valid type B driving license (Belgian car license) or equivalent
- Eligibility to work in Belgium and the European Union (please be aware that we cannot provide relocation support)
We are also looking for the following attributes:
- A real "knife between the teeth" drive: you create movement, you don't wait for it
- Strategic thinking paired with a bias for action. You can write the three-year vision and also unblock today's proposal.
- Sharp communication. You move from a hands-on technical discussion to a CFO conversation without changing gears.
- Strong commercial instinct and comfort owning revenue targets
- Empathy, humility, and radical candor as a leader. You grow people, you don't bulldoze them.
- A real passion for data and AI, and an appetite to keep learning as the field evolves
- Alignment with Agilytic's culture: high standards, intellectual honesty, and care for the people we work with
Benefits
We aim at creating a work environment that allows you to do great work, grow your skillset and, most importantly, be happy while doing it.
- Competitive package variable incentives, mobility budget, phone subscription, laptop, and meal vouchers
- Flexibility on remote working options, as long as it fits with our clients' best interests and team coaching needs
- Training and development a roadmap co-designed with you, balancing your personal interests with the skills required by the role
- Supportive structure and transparency we practice radical candor. We care personally about everyone, and we challenge each other constructively and directly.
- Modern tools up-to-date hardware and software so technology is never the bottleneck.
- Oh, and a little bit of fun too: we take our work very seriously, but we're not afraid to laugh at ourselves. Life is too short.
A note on our process
The bar for this role is high. While we have ambitious plans for Agilytic, we know that hiring right matters more than hiring fast. Our process is designed to reflect the expectations of the position: an initial conversation, a deep-dive on your experience and vision for the practice, a hands-on case study at our offices where you will demonstrate your expertise, and a final meeting with the founding partners. We promise transparency at every step.
Equal opportunity notice
We believe diversity breeds excellence. We are committed to providing employees with a safe work environment, free of discrimination and harassment. We base our remuneration structure and decision-making processes on business needs, job requirements, and individual qualifications, without regard to race, belief, nationality, age, gender, or sexual orientation.
We also expect all colleagues to apply these principles in their respective roles.
