ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

The Practice Associate I is responsible for the patient welcome experience functions and provides clinical administrative support in the day-to-day operations of practice and research patient care in the Department of Neurology. The Practice Associate I is part of a team that delivers an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture of Service-Oriented, Trust, Empathy, Safety, Inclusion, and Communication.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors.
  • Conduct pre-registration, check-in, check-out, appointments and other related tasks.
  • Obtain all required registration and intake information from patients; verify and/or update any new insurance or other information in Epic; obtain prior authorizations and referrals for visits and tests and verify eligibility for services; accurately indicate arrivals, no-shows, reschedules, and physician cancellations in Epic; collect all time-of-service and past due payments.
  • Follow end of day closing procedures.
  • Arrange assistance for patients who require help upon entering or leaving. Work with patients or caregivers to arrange assistance and is aware of individuals coming in and out to arrange assistance when needed or requested.
  • Answer telephones, make appointments, handle and redirect inquiries as appropriate.
  • Review patient’s registration and insurance for accuracy.
  • Provide general administrative support to physicians and managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency is required.
  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience in a medical office environment with knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Candidate must demonstrate good customer service orientation and the ability to deliver consistent exceptional service while demonstrating tact, respect, and sensitivity.
  • Candidate must be organized and be able to manage a demanding workload with limited complexity in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working proficiency of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) or similar software is required and an ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs.
  • May provide cross coverage or rotate to other sites as needed, as directed by Supervisor/Manager.
  • Prior experience in Epic is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required.

Hourly Rate Ranges: $23.56 - $27.84

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
