Allen Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Learn to manage a wide spectrum of conditions, from emergency response and acute trauma, to chronic disease, wound care, and mental health. Examples of duties

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

-Implements selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc. under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.

-Observes patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and reports significant changes.

-Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.

-Takes vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

-Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.

-Transcribes physicians' orders and records medication and the patient's condition on the patient's charts and other records.

-Receives and gives change of shift reports.

-Requests stock drugs, medications, and supplies as assigned.

-Administers CPR in emergency situations.

-Admits, transfers, and discharges patients.

-Gathers information about the patient's past and current physical and mental status.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
• This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

• Licensed Practical Nurse 1 has an SER of $19.48 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurse 2 has an SER of $20.84 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurse 3 has an SER of $22.30 per hour

This position also offers premium pay……

A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.

Career Progression Group: Licensed Practical Nurse 1, 2, or 3

• Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
