About the role
Ogilvy's PR&I offering covers the full spectrum of influencer and creator marketing, from celebrities and macro talent to micro, nano, and community-based creators. The role spans social content, earned influence, cultural storytelling, brand partnerships, ambassador programmes, and integrated campaign delivery.
As an Influence Senior Account Manager, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of influencer campaigns, while also playing a more senior role in strategy, client management, team guidance, reporting, talent relationships, and campaign excellence.
You will work closely with internal teams across PR, Social, Strategy, Creative, Media, Activations, Production, and Client Service to deliver influencer programmes that are culturally relevant, creatively strong, commercially sound, and operationally excellent.
This role requires someone who understands the South African creator landscape, knows how to manage client expectations, can guide junior team members, and is confident in turning influencer marketing into strategic business value for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of influencer campaigns, from identification and implementation, overseeing and reporting.
- Actively contributing & developing Influencer strategy for clients: recommend objectives, targets, action plan, selection, content calendar and budget.
- Aligning and collaborating with media, PR, social, brand activation, digital and all other stakeholders – internal and external to deliver best in class campaigns for our clients.
- Identifying and nurturing client appropriate talent opportunities and nurturing relationships to help deliver the influencer program for clients.
- Maintain and build and successful client relationships, selling in ideas and content streams in quick turnaround and high-pressure situations.
- Be able to present creative and sell content solutions to internal stakeholders and new and existing clients.
- Responsible for managing the influencer database and ensuring this is kept upto date.
- Stay up-to-date with cultural/social trends and customers' views and attitudes.
- Assists in the development of and participation in promoting our influencer offering across the business.
- Supports on additional projects as required – such as new business pitches, market reviews and competitive trends.
- Manage client expectations, timelines, feedback, approvals, and campaign priorities with confidence and professionalism.
- Lead client status meetings, campaign check-ins, influencer reviews, and reporting conversations where required.
- Present influencer recommendations, talent shortlists, campaign updates, and performance results to clients.
- Identify risks early and proactively manage solutions before issues escalate.
- Support the Account Director in strengthening client relationships and identifying opportunities for organic growth.
- Guide and support Account Managers, Account Executives, interns, and junior team members across campaign delivery.
- Review junior team outputs, including trackers, influencer lists, briefs, status documents, reports, and client updates.
- Help build team confidence, discipline, and consistency across influencer ways of working.
- Delegate effectively while ensuring accountability and quality control across all deliverables.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture that supports learning, pace, and high standards.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years' experience in influencer marketing, PR, social media, talent management, content marketing, or integrated communications.
- Strong understanding of the South African influencer and creator landscape.
- Proven experience managing influencer campaigns from strategy through to execution and reporting.
- Experience working with talent, agents, creators, clients, and internal agency teams.
- Strong client management skills, with the ability to manage feedback, timelines, expectations, and pressure.
- Ability to guide junior team members and manage multiple workstreams at the same time.
- Strong understanding of social platforms, content formats, creator trends, community behaviour, and digital culture.
- Experience with campaign reporting, influencer vetting, content approvals, talent negotiations, and budget management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable presenting recommendations, campaign updates, and reports to clients and internal teams.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-driven.
- A collaborative team player who can work across PR, social, media, strategy, creative, production, and client service teams.
- Passionate about culture, creators, storytelling, and the role influence plays in building modern brands.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working on FMCG, beauty, personal care, lifestyle, sport, fashion, technology, or corporate brands.
- Experience with influencer tools, reporting platforms, social listening platforms, or talent vetting tools.
- Experience managing ambassador programmes, creator collectives, affiliate campaigns, or always-on influencer communities.
- Understanding of paid amplification, usage rights, whitelisting, creator licensing, and content repurposing.
