Job Description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Fab Engineering team at Micron Technology is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes to enable high-quality, high-volume production of memory technologies. The team collaborates multi-functionally with process integration, equipment engineering, and material suppliers to drive innovation, yield improvement, and operational excellence.

As a Fab Engineer specializing in CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization), you will play a meaningful role in process development, optimization, and manufacturing support. This position focuses on improving product quality, reliability, yield, and cost efficiency while ensuring robust process control and effective risk management. You will lead investigations, drive process improvements, and contribute to the successful deployment of new technologies in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of CMP processes to meet technology and manufacturing requirements
  • Drive process capability improvement, yield enhancement, and cost reduction using data analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Define, implement, and maintain process control strategies, including SPC and APC/R2R systems
  • Standardize and optimize CMP process parameters across equipment sets to ensure tool matching and consistent performance
  • Investigate process excursions, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Lead evaluation, qualification, and deployment of new CMP equipment, materials (pads, slurries), and technologies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with process, equipment, integration, and suppliers to reduce defects and improve reliability
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, driving best practices and capability development within the team

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of direct semiconductor fab experience with CMP processes and equipment
  • Hands-on experience with CMP process development and manufacturing support
  • Proven experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as FMEA, SPC, 8D, and failure analysis
  • Experience working with advanced CMP tools and manufacturing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with AMAT and/or Ebara CMP tools
  • Expertise in CMP consumables, including slurry and pad optimization
  • Demonstrated success in yield improvement, defect reduction, cost optimization, and productivity enhancement
  • Experience supporting DRAM or NAND technology development and high-volume manufacturing
