The Powertrain Performance Simulations Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and analysing simulation models to evaluate and enhance the overall performance of Electric Drive Units. This role encompasses system performance metrics, thermal analysis, and other simulations that support design decisions and system optimization.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, manage, and maintain high-fidelity simulation models to predict and assess system-level performance metrics, including efficiency, power output, and thermal behavior
• Conduct performance tests, validate simulation results against empirical data, and ensure accuracy and compliance with design specifications
• Analyze simulation data to identify performance trends, limitations, and issues, proposing design improvements and optimizing system parameters
• Perform thermal simulations to evaluate cooling requirements and develop effective thermal management strategies
• Select and manage tools and software for simulation tasks, staying updated with the latest simulation technologies and methodologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system architects, design engineers, and R&D teams, to align simulation parameters with project objectives and test new concepts
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports, summarizing simulation methodologies, findings, and recommendations for design enhancements
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for simulation-related issues, addressing both technical and non-technical factors impacting project performance
Qualifications and Skills Required:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, GT-SUITE, or equivalent platforms
• Experience in model validation and correlation with experimental data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex simulation data
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
