Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking an experienced Power Technician to join our Auckland‑based operation supporting the Vector electricity network This is a specialist, hands‑on role focused on high‑voltage protection, substation assets and SCADA systems, delivering work that directly supports the reliability of Auckland’s power supply.

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
Based in Wiri, Auckland you’ll provide specialist technical services across Protection, HV equipment and SCADA systems for the region. Operating alongside a team of experts, your work will include maintenance, testing, installation, commissioning and fault response on critical infrastructure within substations and switchyards.

This is a full‑time, permanent role with participation in an after‑hours on‑call roster and exposure to a wide variety of HV plant, protection schemes and communication systems. You’ll be trusted to work independently while supported by a highly experienced Energy & Utilities team.
