We have an opportunity for an experienced Team Leader (Power Technician) to join Downer’s Network Services team.

In this role, you’ll lead a team delivering high-quality workmanship across construction, maintenance and fault diagnosis/rectification of network equipment and installations. You’ll be accountable for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with company standards, work practices and regulatory requirements.

You’ll take a hands-on leadership role, planning and coordinating daily work, scoping jobs, estimating time and resource requirements, and breaking work down into achievable steps to ensure successful delivery. You’ll work closely with Supervisors, Works Coordinators and other stakeholders to plan and schedule work, anticipate challenges and keep jobs on track.

This is a permanent full-time position, offering working 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime and travel.

Mōu Koe | About you

You’re an experienced Power Technician who enjoys leading from the front and takes pride in both your technical expertise and your ability to guide and develop others. You’re organised, safety-focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic field environment.

You must have either have:

  • At least 3 years or more of relevant work experience, OR
  • A qualification at level 4 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) (Work experience can replace qualification)

Alongside:

  • A current practising EWRB licence
  • Experience in electricity network construction, maintenance and fault response
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated leadership or crew coordination experience
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices, standards and regulatory requirements
  • The ability to plan and manage jobs, including scoping, scheduling and resource estimation
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to complete accurate documentation and reports
  • The ability to commit to an on-call fault roster
