This internship will allow you to work with experts in the energy industry who have developed the software, products, and services that electrify the world!

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Grid Software Internship Program as a Power Systems Technical Consultant beginning in May or June 2027. This Is a fully remote role.

You’ll Make an Impact By:

  • Supporting the delivery of technical consulting solutions for industrial, commercial, and utility clients through power system analysis, modeling, simulation, and optimization projects.
  • Assisting in the modeling and simulation of electrical power systems using industry-standard tools such as PowerWorld, PSS®E, PSLF, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and related platforms.
  • Analyzing system performance data and contributing to power quality, reliability, efficiency, and grid modernization initiatives, including exposure to energy automation and digital power system technologies.
  • Supporting the development of technical proposals, reports, presentations, and other client-facing deliverables.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support project delivery and client engagements while staying current with industry trends, standards, and emerging power system technologies.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering, Energy Systems, or a closely related field and approaching completion of the required educational credentials for this opportunity.
  • Coursework and/or work experience in electrical power systems including generation, transmission, distribution, and protection.
  • Working knowledge of applications of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work remotely full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12-week program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with power system simulation and analysis tools such as PowerWorld, PSS®E, PSLF, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Coursework or experience in power system analysis, protection, renewable energy integration, renewable generation, FACTS, or smart grid technologies.
  • Programming experience using tools such as Python, C++, or VBA for data analysis, automation, or tool customization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse team environments.
  • Interest in sustainable energy, digital transformation, and emerging technologies within the power sector.

You’ll Benefit From

The hourly pay range for this position $31.00 - $35.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
