
Salary $27.83 - $33.11 hourly upon step increase progression. This position assists in performing routine preventative maintenance functions such as overhaul and calibration of pressure gauges, transmitters, flow meters, pressure regulating valves, fluid control valves, mechanical operators, electric recorders, electronic and digital control circuits, and other associated equipment. The incumbent will operate test equipment such as manometers, O2 analyzers, thermometers, voltmeters, etc. and use power tools such as drills, grinders, hacksaws, tubing benders, etc. Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required. Duties involve working in a noisy, hot, dusty environment; wearing a respirator while working with chemicals; performing service work in confined areas; and walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, and climbing ladders.
Further breakdown of job responsibilities is as follows:
40%: Takes samples and performs tests such as O2, CO2, silica, iron copper, conductivity, or others as may be required from locations such as deaerator, feedwater heaters, turbine condensers, return condensate lines, etc.
15%: Assists in performing routine preventative maintenance functions such as overhaul and calibration of pressure gauges, transmitters, flow meters, pressure regulating valves, fluid control valves, mechanical operators, electric recorders, electronic and digital control circuits, and other associated equipment.
15%: Participates in routine safety training, including toolbox talks, lock-out/tag-out meetings, and safety briefings. Attends both on and off-site technical training needed to maintain and advance skill set.
10%: Fabricates and installs simple piping and tubing connections to instruments, control and laboratory apparatus.
10%: Assists senior technicians with managing calibration logs, spare part inventory, and resupply.
10%: Maintain correspondence through email, training, meetings and professional development.
In addition to an initial drug test at hire, the employer conducts random monthly drug testing throughout the year.

This position requires a minimum of a high school education and two years of experience in a chemistry, electronics, or industrial-related occupation, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Some knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment. Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions in an industrial environment, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and in climates with noise and temperature extremes. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Must provide own hand tools. Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position; must be able to drive a university vehicle to perform job duties of this classification.
Associate degree in chemistry, electronics, or a science-related field of study. General understanding of power generation facilities and processes. Experience collecting samples and performing lab chemistry analysis, setting up, testing, are repairing industrial analyzers, transmitters and associated equipment. The ideal candidate is results-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and good customer relations/service skills, as well as the ability to work independently and within a team.
