Arcadis is seeking a Power Market Sector Leader for our Canadian environmental consulting practice. This position can reside anywhere in Canada. The successful candidate will have a clear plan of how to build and drive sustainable Power Market Sector growth. Candidate must have direct experience with providing environmental and/or environmental engineering services for Power Sector clients. This role is client facing and technical.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated professional (P.Eng, P.Geo or other designation) and recognized leader in the industry to join our growing team. The Canadian Power Market Sector Leader will direct the Client Development Strategy for our clients in the nuclear, hydro-electric, wind, solar, offshore wind, battery storage, and other renewables industry from an environmental perspective to accelerate growth in Canada. Interested candidates will demonstrate a strong and established record of accomplishment in working with and developing clients and winning projects. The key drivers of this role will be to accelerate growth in the power market sector by applying market and industry trends, client focus, client needs, best practices, growth accelerators, sustainable operations, etc. to drive net revenue bookings and to develop and deliver a clear and concise market sector strategy in line with national and divisional priorities.

This role will sit within the Environmental Team which is part of the Global Resilience Business Area. As part of the Environmental Team, you will work on projects focused on sustainability and resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role accountabilities:

The Power Market Sector Leader will work with the Canadian Resilience Sales Director, Business Unit Directors and international teams to undertake the following;

  • Definition and execution of the Canadian power market sector strategy, from an environmental perspective;
  • Generation of world-class sector insights;
  • Translation of Global, North American, Canadian, and Divisional value propositions to the Canadian Power Market Sector client base.

This role will provide leadership and coaching of the Canadian Power Market Sector Team and community providing a clear sector vision, goals & objectives, and proposition to market. The Market Sector Leader will manage growth acceleration in Canadian Power Market Sector including key growth accounts and coordination/ communication with Arcadis Global Community of Practice leaders. The Market Sector Leader must have strong business development skills and solid client base and contacts, positive industry recognition, a seller-doer mentality combined with strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills - written and verbal, ability to write at a high level for proposals and projects and ability to win and manage projects.

The role is client-facing, requiring technical experience and an environmentally driven approach, combined with strong business development leadership. You will lead the development and execution of the Canadian power market sector strategy, ensuring alignment with the global sector strategy where appropriate, through both annual and multi-year plans. Coordination of the allocation of Canadian market sector growth objectives for key target and existing local client accounts will be a core part of your responsibilities.

You will drive overall growth in Canadian market sector revenue, bookings, and margin, aiming to meet or exceed planned targets. Leading the analysis and valuation of the local or divisional sector is essential to build and maintain Arcadis’ understanding and insight into the market. Annually, you will develop the Power Sector financial plan and key account goals, which include metrics such as net revenue bookings and profitability.

Translating global, national, and divisional sector propositions into commercially viable market sector propositions that differentiate Arcadis in the market and generate local demand is a critical responsibility. You will lead knowledge management and the dissemination of local or divisional sector insights and propositions throughout the internal sector organization, ensuring that there is awareness, understanding, and the practical ability to apply these insights to client needs.

Your contribution to the development of national, divisional, and market sector marketing and communication plans will be significant. You will also lead the adaptation and execution of these plans into specific sector marketing and communication strategies that position Arcadis effectively in the market. Identifying new client, product, service, and value proposition opportunities within the Canadian market sector will be part of your remit.

Supporting pursuits by contributing tailored sector insights and value propositions to address specific client needs is expected. You will develop and expand a sustainable network of relationships across the sector, leveraging these connections to enable Arcadis to have maximum impact. Managing the identification and selection of key clients will ensure sustained sector growth.

Additionally, you will recruit, develop, and manage the performance of employees, coaching and mentoring them to achieve high performance, growth, and personal development. Finally, you will promote a vibrant health and safety culture and practice throughout your team and the organization.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Client facing experience, business development, technically driven with a strong background in providing environmental and/or environmental engineering for Power Sector clients.
  • 10+ years of planning and design consulting experience (or equivalent) in the power industry.
  • Proven track record of growing a Power sector business, client satisfaction and positive industry recognition.
  • Must have previous experience with clients and/or contacts in the sector
  • Must have a client facing and engagement skillset
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering or Earth Science related fields.
  • Professional Engineer and/or Geoscientists designation within the provinces of practice and a member in good standing with the regulating professional association is a key attribute.

The salary range for this position is $113,000-149,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
