Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of our electricity generation power plant. The ideal candidate will have direct experience working with MWM gas generators and will be proficient in using diagnostic tools such as digital multi-meter to identify and resolve electrical faults. This role involves installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and systems vital to plant operations. This includes working with high-voltage systems, switchgear, control panels, generators, motors, and other electrical infrastructure critical to the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

Responsibilities will include:

· Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on MWM gas generators, including control systems, alternators, and associated electrical components.

· Troubleshoot electrical systems using digital multimeters and other diagnostic tools to detect faults in circuits, wiring, and components.

· Maintain, test, and repair switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, motors, protection relays, and control panels.

· Perform inspections, calibrations, and functional testing on generator electrical systems to ensure reliable performance and compliance with safety standards.

· Assist with the installation and commissioning of new MWM generator units and plant upgrades.

· Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and control system logic.

· Accurately document maintenance activities, test results, and repair work in line with regulatory and company requirements.

· Follow all safety procedures and electrical codes while working on high- and low-voltage systems.

· Work collaboratively with operations and mechanical teams during maintenance outages, emergency shutdowns, and troubleshooting sessions.

· Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and support efforts to improve plant reliability and efficiency

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, equipment malfunctions, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and tests on electrical equipment to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, Electrical Maintenance, or a related discipline.

· Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance within a power generation or industrial setting.

· Proven experience working on MWM gas generators is highly desirable

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of electrical systems in gas engine power plants, particularly MWM generator sets
  • Proficient in the use of digital multimeter and other electrical testing instruments
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical diagrams
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and generator control panels (preferred)
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • High level of safety awareness and compliance with operational procedures
  • Team player but comfortable working autonomously;

Work Environment:

· Require rotating shift work, including weekends and public holidays

· Work involves exposure to high-voltage systems, noise, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions

· Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory

· Desire to live and work in Epe, Lagos
