Your mission starts here at Raytheon Australia! Right now, we are seeking a bright and energised Power Generation Operator.

Since 2011, Raytheon Australia have been contracted to deliver facilities services in support of the Harold E. Holt (HEH) Defence Precinct in Exmouth, Western Australia. Home to the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST), the C-Band Radar and Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio transmission capability, together these systems add a critical contribution to Australia's space domain awareness and battlespace awareness missions.

To support our mission, Raytheon Australia is currently seeking a motivated individual who is ready to work with a diverse, talented, and enthusiastic team on-site in Exmouth WA.

Reporting to the Power Generation Supervisor, you will be responsible for controlling, monitoring, maintaining, and operating the associated equipment / plant to ensure uninterrupted generation and distribution of power.

This position involves working a rotating roster consisting of both day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor individual operating equipment for proper operations.
  • Safely start and stop equipment and bring on-line and off-line.
  • Configure and manage the power system to meet the dynamic load demands considering the design and operational requirements.
  • Perform routine log checks and inspections on equipment.
  • Perform level 1 and level 2 maintenance on diesel engines and associated equipment.
  • Interpret schematic drawings to co-ordinate fluid configuration changes and fault finding.
  • Equipment isolation.
  • Provide knowledge and training support to new shift operators.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential Qualifications & Licences

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Electrician. With a minimum of 4 years of experience. OR
  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Mechanical Fitter), Fitter & Machinist, or equivalent Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance of rotating equipment, power generation, mining, heavy industry, oil & gas, or similar industrial environments
  • High school, secondary school or equivalent education is required.
  • Current “C” Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Working at Heights training
  • CPR/LVR (within valid timeframe).
  • Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-suitability

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience operating and maintaining diesel and/or gas power generation assets.
  • Mechanical or electrical maintenance experience in a power generation, mining, utilities, oil and gas, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems and maintenance planning processes.
  • Understanding of permit to work, isolation, and safe work systems.
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively on a rotating day and night shift roster in a remote operation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Engineering (Mechanical).
  • Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology.
  • Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.
  • High Risk Work Licence (Forklift, Dogging, Rigging, Elevated Work Platform).
  • Generator, power station, gas compression, or utilities industry-specific training.
  • First Aid certificate.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience in HV switching or exposure to high‑voltage equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems and maintenance planning processes.
  • Fault-finding and diagnostic skills on engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and associated equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment performance issues and respond effectively to plant alarms and operational upsets.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
