The Treater is responsible for safe and productive operation of the treating plants as well as operation of the high-pressure boiler.

Rotation shifts (Days, Afternoons, Nights) - (this is subject to change)

Responsibilities
• Operates pressure treating systems (treating plants, fixation kilns) and performs quality control activities to meet customers specifications and standards.
• Maintains compliance with Pressure Vessels Act in Nova Scotia.
• Operates 500 hp high pressure boiler.
• Unloads chemical deliveries.
• Cleans and maintains treating system including greasing, changing/cleaning filters, cleaning tanks, sump pits and working areas.
• Maintains daily plant checklists and reports concerns to Supervisor, Maintenance or Chief Engineer.
• Performs analysis of treating solution to ensure that it is within specifications.
• Maintains clean and safe working conditions.
• Makes recommendations to improve productivity.
• Maintains treating plant standard operating procedures to ensures all work is performed safely to applicable codes, standards and to Stella-Jones health and safety manual.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Requires 4th Class Stationary Engineer license (3rd class considered an asset).
• Confined Space Attendant.
• Fall Arrest.
• Transportation of Dangerous Good.
• Requires 4th Class Stationary Engineer license.
• Effective communication skills.
• Problem solving & prioritization skills.
• Ability to train employees.
• Time management skills.
• Intermediate Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
