Location Description

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for working with all aspects of our poultry houses to include providing an excellent

environment and quality care for our laying hens/pullets.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an

obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities,

related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to

reduce product and process variability.

Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance by working on scheduled days as directed, in relation to production scheduling and or time volunteered for. This being in relation to attendance policy and or guidelines.
• Vaccinates and or sprays disinfectants on chickens or in houses.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Checks feed; ventilation, lighting and water to ensure needs of animals are met at all times.
• Responsible for keeping all feed chains in working order.
• Responsible for keeping all light bulbs replaced and in working order.
• Responsible to keep all fans, motors and screens clean and protected with shields or guards.
• Moves equipment or carries equipment from one area to another.
• Removes mortality from the houses on a daily basis by inspecting the system and walking platforms to view upper levels. This includes filling out daily reports to track mortality, feed consumption and water.
• Repairs all non-manure and nonelectrical equipment items. This will generally include buildings, fences, equipment, etc. Assistance is to be given to Manure Maintenance personnel with regard to maintenance issues as needed and or as directed.
• Adheres to all animal humane policies and procedures.
• Cleans animal, feed and or product droppings and waste items from floor.
• Stacks and moves crated egg samples taken from assigned sample areas in layer houses.
• Follows all bio-security guidelines and bird health processes.
• Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that products quality is maintained. Report management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Previous experience with animal care is preferred.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.
• Ability to read and comprehend; simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to deal with problems involving troubleshooting.

The pay range for this position is $19.89 to $24.99 per hour.
