The Gorman Lab within the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Research Program at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking a highly motivated, passionate Postdoc to investigate the mechanisms of autoimmune disease and/or inflammation. This is a mentored position in which the candidate will design and conduct research experiments; manage research projects; prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation, and future research; and contribute to grant writing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research.

• Demonstrates skill in formulating and testing hypotheses.

• Ability to conduct scientific research experiments, analyze, and summarize data and results.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Ability to present ideas and results.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a biological science, immunology, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent.

• Highly motivated and enthusiastic about science.

• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to communicate and write summaries of result.

• Professionalism while interacting with a diverse group of people, personalities, and cultures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong publication track record in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals in the field of immunology.

• Interest in autoimmunity and/or infectious disease.

• Immunology training or experience.

• Experience with small animal models of autoimmunity or infectious diseases and/or with human immunology along with human specimens specifically peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).

• Experience with Flow Cytometry and/or RNAseq and other bioinformatics.

• Experience with tissue culture techniques.
