THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL APRIL 30, 2029

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to design and execute research studies aligned with grant-specific aims, analyze and interpret data, disseminate findings through publications and presentations, and contribute to the successful completion of sponsored project deliverables. This position advances the institution’s mission by promoting high-quality research, ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity, and fostering professional development toward independent research careers. This is a mentored research training position responsible for conducting advanced scientific investigation in support of externally funded research programs at UT Health Science Center

  1. Conducts advanced, mentored research in support of the department’s funded research portfolio at UT Health Science Center.
  2. Designs and conducts experiments/studies aligned with grant-funded aims.
  3. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data.
  4. Prepares manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
  5. Assists with grant reporting and contributes to future grant submissions.
  6. Ensures compliance with IRB/IACUC, biosafety, and other regulatory requirements.
  7. Maintains accurate research documentation and data integrity.
  8. Mentors students or junior research staff as appropriate.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral Degree in a relevant scientific field from an accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE: Experience working on animal experiments and flow cytometry. Demonstrated research experience aligned with the department’s focus area. Record of scholarly productivity (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, or presentations)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of research compliance standards (e.g., IRB, IACUC, biosafety).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends.
