Job Description

The Kim Lab at MSU Chemistry is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research on the growth and characterization of magnetic hybrid layered semiconductors using a metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system. The successful candidate will contribute to a project aimed at achieving high magnetic dopant concentrations and dopant activity, and studying the resulting magnetic, structural, and photonic properties. Responsibilities include:

    • Operating and maintaining a home-built MOCVD system
    • Growing and characterizing doped and undoped single-crystals via optical microscopy, spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and X-ray techniques
    • Conducting temperature- and field-dependent magnetic (EPR, SQUID) and optical (steady-state and time-resolved PL, magneto-PL) measurements to probe magnetic ordering and spin-polarized light emission
    • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers, and contributing to manuscript and grant preparation
