Candidates must have a strong background in neuroscience or molecular biology and be particularly interested in neuropsychiatry, drug development, and brain health. Special consideration will be given to candidates with previous expertise in iPSCs, brain organoids, cell therapy, and neurodegenerative diseases. This is a key position within the lab, and the selected candidate will be responsible for planning and executing experiments in close collaboration with the Principal Investigator. The lab works closely with other PIs in the School of Medicine, including collaborations with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, chemists, physicists, and clinicians. The selected candidate will be expected to develop new research directions, generate novel hypotheses related to neuroprotection and brain health, design in vitro and in vivo experiments using existing and new neurodegeneration models, interpret data, prepare manuscripts for publication, apply for external funding, mentor junior trainees in the lab, and present discoveries at departmental seminars and national and international scientific meetings.

  5. Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
  6. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to modify their working hours in accordance with the requirements of ongoing experiments and may need to work additional hours to ensure completion. Depending on the nature of the experiments and the necessity to expedite data collection, manuscript development, and grant preparations, work during weekends and holidays may be required.
  7. Candidate must be available to mentor junior trainees, including students ranging from high school to graduate and medical school.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Neuroscience, preferably focus in molecular neuroscience, with 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience and demonstrated research ability in the form of lead author publications.
  • 3+ years of experience with iPSCs and organoids.
