Job Description

The successful candidate will participate in DOD-funded research projects focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of metabolic dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases and developing potential therapeutics. The lab employs an integrated experimental approach, including in vitro cell culture systems, in vivo transgenic animal models, and patient-derived iPSC neurons and glial cells, to investigate disease pathogenesis. In parallel, the laboratory pursues therapeutic development, using rationally designed peptide inhibitors of protein-protein interactions and high-throughput screening strategies to identify nvel treatment approaches for neurological disorders. Other responsibilities include:

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments in models of neurodegenerative disease
  • Perform and optimize molecular, biochemical, and cell-based assays, including work with cell lines, primary cultures, and iPSC-derived neurons and glia.
  • Conduct in vivo studies using transgenic animal models, including tissue collection and downstream analyses, as appropriate
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, maintain detailed records, and prepare figures and reports.
  • Work on preparation of manuscripts for research findings
  • Collaborate with other lab members and interdisciplinary partners within and ouside the University
  • Particpate in the general scientific activities of the laboratory, inclduing mentoring junior trainees when appropriate

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, or a related field
  • 4 years experience with cellular and molecular biology and animal models of disease
  • must be able to work in the United States

In compliance with the City of Cleveland's Pay Transparency Ordinance, the annual starting base salary for this position is $55,000-$62,652. CWRU considrs factors such as (but not limited o) the specific grant funding and the terms of the reseach grant when extending an offer.
