Job Description
Postdoctoral Researcher – Materials Processing & Scientific Instrumentation
Disruption is the new normal, and at Tecnológico de Monterrey, every morning we wake up with the responsibility of transforming our surroundings. Our processes are people-centered, ensuring extraordinary experiences through our talent and the innovative Educational Model. Here, you’ll find your purpose, seize innovative opportunities, and be part of a collaborative culture based on inclusion, meritocracy, and respect.
What will you do?
The successful candidate will conduct applied research and develop custom technological solutions by designing, building, commissioning, and validating experimental electrospinning systems, while exploring innovative approaches to freeze-drying. This role offers opportunities to contribute directly to university research initiatives, high-impact scientific publications, and potentially patentable technologies.
Your main challenges will be:
- Instrumentation & Systems Engineering: Design, build, integrate, and validate an experimental electrospinning system comprising high-voltage power supplies, custom mechanical design, embedded systems, and control software.
- Experimental Research & Optimization: Design and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize process parameters and equipment performance for advanced materials processing.
- Freeze-Drying Innovation: Investigate and evaluate novel technological approaches for freeze-drying applications.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside researchers and students to support experimental work, data acquisition and analysis, and complex technical problem-solving.
- Documentation & Dissemination: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), progress reports, peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, and patent disclosures.
What are we looking for?
- Education: Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechatronics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field, with a strong background in electrical engineering and experimental development.
- Experience: Prior postdoctoral experience and a demonstrated track record in scientific research and in technology development projects.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience designing, building, and commissioning scientific instrumentation—specifically electrospinning systems, high-voltage equipment, electronics, embedded control systems, and data acquisition platforms.
- Domain Knowledge: Solid foundation in materials processing, characterization, and mechanical design.
- Core Competencies: Proven ability to translate research concepts into functional laboratory solutions, work independently, collaborate effectively across disciplines, and communicate technical findings clearly.
Application requirements:
- Detailed CV, list of publications, awards and recognitions, and potential start date.
- Short statement of previous work, research interests and his/her future vision on the field.
- Names and contact information of three referees.- PDF of a recent publication considered by the candidate as being representative of his/her research work.
