Position Summary
The
Leuthner Lab at Indiana University (The O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs) seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research program in environmental genomics.
The postdoctoral researcher will have flexibility to define their own research agenda, but a successful candidate will be broadly interested in contributing to projects investigating gene-environment interactions, chemical susceptibility, and effects of exposure on evolutionary processes with a focus on emerging contaminants such as PFAS
Research integrates Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) as a model system with approaches including:
- Quantitative genetics ( GWASQTL mapping)
- High-throughput phenotyping

RNA-seq and multi-omics integration
- Functional genomics (e.g., RNAi, transgenics)
The postdoctoral scholar will have opportunities to lead independent projects, mentor undergraduate researchers, and contribute to grant writing and publications.

Basic Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in biology, toxicology, genomics, genetics, bioinformatics, or a closely related field (completed by start date)
- Experience with molecular biology, genetics, or model organism research
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research (e.g., publications, dissertation work)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with C. elegans or other model organisms
- Experience with high-throughput data analysis (e.g., RNA-seq, GWAS)
- Proficiency in R, Python, or similar computational tools

Additional Qualifications
Salary and Rank
$55,000–$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Full benefits included.
