The laboratory of Dr. Andrew R. Marks, Chair, Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist. Projects include: cryo-EM structures of RyR channels (with Nobel Laureate Joachim Frank and Wayne Hendrickson), calcium signaling in diabetes, molecular basis of inherited cardiomyopathies and heart failure, and calcium signaling in neurodegenerative diseases, drug discovery efforts to test novel therapeutics for heart, muscle, metabolic and CNS disorders. We are translating fundamental discoveries into ongoing clinical trials. Recent laboratory members have gone on to leading academic and pharmaceutical industry positions.
All applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD, outstanding publications, oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, work ethic, the ability to work independently, and experience in structural biology, molecular biology, calcium signaling, or electrophysiology.
