The Arizona State University's Biodesign Center for BioEnergetics and Professor Sidney Hecht invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to assist with biochemical aspects of the biosynthesis of proteins containing non-proteinogenic amino acids. Specific tasks will include the design of modified peptides and proteins, carrying out the preparation of peptides and proteins containing non-canonical amino acids, and the purification, characterization and study of the proteins created in in vitro and in vivo biochemical systems. The goal of the work includes dissecting protein behavior and function by using analogues containing amino acids that enable an understanding of peptide/protein function, and devising modified polymers that facilitate the study of biological systems. This position's anticipated start date is November 2026.
