Job Description

The School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for two postdoctoral scholars to join a newly funded NIH U19 cooperative agreement focused on understanding how and why individuals age differently. These full-time positions will work on multi-omic and longitudinal analyses of aging heterogeneity in the free-ranging Cayo Santiago rhesus macaque population. The successful candidate will analyze and integrate cross-sectional multi-tissue and longitudinal datasets spanning DNA methylation, RNA-seq, single-nucleus RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, metabolomics, proteomics, immune phenotyping, genotype data, behavioral observations, social adversity, endocrine and physiological measures, reproductive outcomes, and survival. Depending on background and interests, the position may focus on tissue-specific aging, single-cell and chromatin-state integration, epigenomic and transcriptomic drivers of age-related decline, biological-age and mortality prediction, longitudinal aging trajectories, cross-species comparisons, and/or informatics infrastructure for reproducible multi-omic analyses.

The position will be embedded in a collaborative, multi-institutional NIH U19 team that integrates genomics, epigenomics, immunology, physiology, neuroscience, skeletal biology, behavioral biology, social-network analysis, biostatistics, and nonhuman-primate biology to understand aging heterogeneity across tissues, organ systems, and the life course.

Qualifications

Essential Functions

  • Analyze and integrate multi-tissue and longitudinal multi-omic data in the context of demographic and environmental variables.
  • Develop reproducible workflows for preprocessing, QC, normalization, harmonization, and statistical analysis of high-dimensional biological data.
  • Develop tissue-specific, cell-type-informed, sex-stratified, longitudinal, ageotype, agingtype, and mortality models.
  • Prepare manuscripts, preprints, conference presentations, documented code, and data products.
  • Collaborate with U19 investigators, postdocs, students, research staff, and CayoHub informatics personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, data science, computer science, systems biology, evolutionary biology, aging biology, neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment.
  • Experience analyzing high-dimensional biological data using R, Python, or a comparable scientific programming language.
  • Familiarity with reproducible research, version control, and command-line analysis environments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with RNA-seq, DNA methylation, ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, ChIP-seq, snRNA-seq/scRNA-seq, whole-genome sequencing, metabolomics, or proteomics.
  • Experience with functional genomics, regulatory genomics, single-cell analysis, multi-omic integration, epigenetic clocks, biological-age models, survival analysis, mixed models, or longitudinal modeling.
  • Experience with eQTL, meQTL, mediation, Mendelian randomization, containerized computing, HPC workflows, or related computational approaches.
  • Experience working with nonhuman primate data, human cohort data, long-term population data, or field-based biological datasets.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students, and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter.
