We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Pharmacist Researcher with expertise in medication safety, pharmacy practice, and health services research to support innovative digital health projects aimed at improving medication management and care outcomes for older adults in aged care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical pharmacy expertise, experience in mixed methods research, and a demonstrated ability to contribute to scholarly publications, stakeholder engagement, and translational research. The successful applicant will play a key role in leading the medication safety and medicines optimisation components of the AiCT-MED and OneDementiaHub projects.
About the Role
Be part of innovative research programs that are transforming medication safety and medicines optimisation for older people in aged care. The successful candidate will contribute to AiCT-MED, an AI-augmented digital platform designed to identify deprescribing opportunities and improve medication decision-making in residential aged care, and OneDementiaHub, a digital health initiative focused on enhancing dementia care through integrated evidence-based digital solutions.
The role will provide clinical and academic leadership in the medication safety, clinical validation, and implementation research aspects of these projects. This includes contributing to the design and evaluation of digital interventions, conducting mixed-methods research, engaging with aged care providers and stakeholders, and supporting the preparation of research publications, reports, and grant applications. The successful applicant will work closely with clinicians, researchers, software developers, and aged care partners to ensure that the pharmacy and medication safety aspects of these digital innovations are clinically relevant, evidence-based, and implementable in real-world settings.
About You
We are seeking a research-active pharmacist with expertise in medication safety, quality use of medicines, deprescribing, and aged care pharmacy practice.
The ideal candidate will have experience in qualitative and quantitative research, a track record of scholarly outputs, and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. They will have strong analytical and communication skills, and an interest in contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital health innovations that improve medication-related outcomes.
The successful applicant will continue to build their own academic and research profile while contributing to high-impact translational research aligned with the Centre’s programs in medication safety, digital health, and health services research.

Key Selection criteria (all levels)
A PhD in Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences,
Demonstrated ability to conduct research in clinical pharmacy, aged care, medication safety, or digital health,
A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications, with evidence of contributing to high-quality academic outputs,
Experience undertaking in mixed-methods research, including qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting,
Demonstrated ability to critically appraise evidence and contribute to systematic or structured literature reviews,
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, students, management, health care providers, and external stakeholders, and
Excellent knowledge of the Australian healthcare system.
Level B Research Fellow (in addition to key criteria above)
Experience contributing to research grants, ethics applications, and stakeholder engagement activities, and
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in project activities and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Criteria (for all levels above)
Experience in implementation science, co-design, translational research, digital health, clinical decision support, or AI-enabled healthcare interventions, and/ or
Quantitative analysis skills using software such as SAS, R, or STATA.
