A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University. Under the mentorship of Dr. Anne Hart, the fellow primarily would focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood, primarily using genetic and molecular approaches in C. elegans knock-in models. The fellow would also participate in collaborative studies to move results from C. elegans into other model systems and to address disease mechanisms at the cellular and biochemical level.
This position in the Hart Laboratory provides the opportunity to join the collaborative scientists in the Brown community focused on understanding the nervous system and understanding neurodegenerative disease. Additionally, the position will allow for professional development, the opportunity to participate in collaborative work between research groups and across institutions, as well as other training and opportunities appropriate for a postdoctoral fellow. Hart Lab members are actively engaged in the collaborative research environment fostered by Brown University and the Carney Institute for Brain Science.
Successful applicants will have strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Applications from individuals with prior experience with genetic model systems and neurodegenerative disease research in any system are especially welcome. Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. degree in any relevant field are invited to apply (or those about to receive their Ph.D.). The ability to work independently, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with scientists and students from diverse backgrounds, is critical.
Applicants should upload their C.V., contact information for 3 references, and a cover letter via Interfolio (at TBD). Candidates should address how they would contribute to the research and teaching missions of our inclusive community.
For this position, Brown does not sponsor the H-1B visa classification to scholars who need immigration sponsorship in order to enter the U.S. and commence lawful employment under the terms of their appointment.
