· Postdoctoral Research Associate role working in restorative and reconstructive dentistry research

· Base Salary $117936 + 17% superannuation

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will design and conduct high quality restorative and reconstructive dentistry research, focussing on biomaterials and nanomedicine for tissue regeneration. They will be supporting Dr Chun Xu and the team in their study of functional scaffolds for bone repair to support the health and well being of people with craniofacial and orodental defects.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • conduct innovative research in biomaterials, nanomedicine and regenerative dentistry, contributing to internationally recognised research outcomes
  • design, perform and analyse laboratory-based studies investigating functional scaffolds for bone and craniofacial tissue regeneration
  • conduct research, scholarly or professional activity, independently or as part of a team, contributing to discipline knowledge
  • develop and refine independent research skills under the supervision of more senior academic staff (with an increasing degree of autonomy)
  • provide informal mentoring and advice to students within discipline (where appropriate)
  • ensure quality, standards and excellence are maintained in any research activities and output
  • carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings
  • contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
  • maintain an understanding of the University’s strategic agenda and contributes to furthering that agenda
  • contribute to the strategic direction of the Faculty/School/Portfolio as articulated through the Faculty/School/Portfolio’s Strategic Plan/ s or equivalent
  • undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required

About you

  • PhD in biomedical engineering, dentistry or relevant field
  • a developing network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders
  • a developing research profile in biomedical engineering and dental research including biomaterials and nanomedicine for tissue regeneration
  • demonstrated expertise in advanced material characterisation, biomaterial development or bioengineering methodologies
  • demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline
  • experience conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity.
