What We Want
Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center (HRRC) in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M University. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Siyu Yu and other HRRC faculty and faculty in the new Plan Integration for Resilience Scorecard™ Lab (PIRS™) to complete implement and lead research projects and advise graduate and undergraduate students in the area of hazard and disaster planning. The position is for one year with potential for extension, depending on performance and funding availability.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
PhD in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Sociology, Political Science, Public Policy, Anthropology, or a related field.
No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in and enthusiasm for community resilience, land use planning, environmental planning, and social vulnerability.
Experience with both quantitative and qualitative social science data, particularly related to plan quality evaluation, policy analysis, spatial analysis, and/or hazard assessment.
Track record of scholarly and public outreach via academic publications and presentations in the fields of urban planning, sociology, geography, or public policy.
Experience in community engagement and outreach.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Conduct Research
Perform research related to ongoing grants with Dr. Siyu Yu and other HRRC and PIRS™ Lab faculty.
Public Outreach & Mentorship
Support public outreach development efforts of the HRRC and PIRS™ Lab.
Mentor MS/PhD students and supervise undergraduate students.
Research Collaborations & Publishing's
Assist in developing new research project proposals.
Publish research results in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Salary: $65,000.00/annually

Position Details: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
