Position Information

The successful candidate will contribute to a research program focused on integrating cell-phone mobility data and survey responses to enhance the understanding of decision-making during hazardous weather events. The project integrates econometric analysis and policy evaluation to better understand population mobility in response to hazardous weather information. This position offers strong opportunities for co-authorship on academic publications and collaboration on externally funded research projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct empirical research on responses to hazardous weather using mobility data
  • Clean, manage, and analyze large mobility datasets using python and modern econometric and computational tools.
  • Contribute to the development of academic manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Assist with grant proposal development and related research activities.
  • Collaborate with other researchers, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students, and provide occasional guidance on data and methods.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience in environmental or resource economics.
  • Proficiency in Python and R.
  • Experience working with large and spatial datasets.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or analyzing surveys.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders, community groups, government agencies, or other non-academic audiences.
  • Interest in policy-relevant research and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong training in applied econometrics, including causal inference methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and write for academic audiences.
