Job Description

The Neurolinguistics Lab (PI: Liina Pylkkänen) in the Departments of Psychology and Linguistics at NYU is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to work on the neural capacity limits of language processing using magnetoencephalography, including in multimodal settings. The position offers opportunities for innovation in both naturalistic and controlled paradigms within a vibrant cross-departmental research environment. Appointment Terms:
The position is available immediately. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the expectation of renewal for a second year. The anticipated annual salary for this grant-funded position is $68,000.

This position is based in New York and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500-$90,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive science, linguistics, neuroscience, or a related field. The ideal candidate will also have:

-Strong computational skills (Python, R) and proficiency in advanced statistical methods

-Experience analyzing electrophysiological data, ideally MEG

-Experience studying language across modalities (auditory/visual presentation, comprehension/production)

-An interest in the neurobiological capacity limits of language processing and, ideally, an aptitude for relating this research to modern language models

-Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for mentoring junior lab members

-Excellent organizational and time-management skills
