Postdoctoral Associate position is available in Dr. Yi Zhu’s lab at the Children’s Nutrition Research Center to understand the mechanisms of current weight-loss drugs and seeks more effective strategies to achieve durable weight reduction. The lab research has focus on the gap junction protein Connexin43 and the extracellular matrix component hyaluronan in metabolic organs and inter-organ crosstalk, within the context of systemic metabolism. The lab employs a broad range of approaches, including biochemistry, molecular biology, cell culture, imaging, and rodent physiology. More recently, the efforts have shifted toward incretin biology and bioengineering with the ultimate goal to develop novel concepts and biologics for treating obesity and related diseases.

The Postdoctoral Associate will engineer novel mouse models to elucidate the intrinsic mechanisms of incretin processing and to define optimized hormone patterns for weight loss. Based on insights from transgenic animal studies, the lab will also design and evaluate new biologics for treating obesity and related diseases.
Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.
