Job Description

The Huang lab at NYU Biology is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to work as a Postdoctoral Associate. This position is based in New York and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.

This position is for a post-PhD trainee preparing for a research scientist career path. The planned position will provide a transition to career independence through the development of professional skills; supervision by senior scientist incorporating individual development plan in support of training goals and those of faculty mentor; and publication of research findings/scholarship during postdoc appointment period.

Research in the Huang lab combines experimental and computational approaches to study transcriptional regulation in plant systems. Our work primarily uses DAP-seq (DNA affinity purification sequencing) and related methods, together with single-cell genomics approaches. Planned projects will focus on developing novel assays to characterize transcription factor-DNA and protein-protein interactions, as well as applying AI/ML models to predict cis-regulatory elements in plant genomes and uncover the mechanisms underlying transcriptional regulation during plant stress responses and development.

Our research primarily uses the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Funded projects are supported by NIH grants focused on mechanisms of transcription, as well as collaborative NSF and DOE grants that extend this work to agricultural and bioenergy crops.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $72,000-$75000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

We welcome applications from international candidates; however, please note that NYU is not an E-Verify employer and therefore unable to support STEM OPT extensions.

This position is based in New York and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in plant biology, genetics/genomics, molecular biology, or a related field; demonstrate research productivity, including first- or co-first-author peer-reviewed publication(s); and have prior research experience in one or more of the following areas: molecular cloning, confocal microscopy, protein expression and purification, biochemical or molecular interaction assays, sequencing-based genomic assays, analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, basic statistics, computer programming/computational analysis, and machine learning. Experience working with Arabidopsis, plant genomic data, and/or single-cell genomics is a strong plus. Candidates with predominantly experimental or computational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The position is expected to continue for multiple years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.

Application Instructions

Please upload your application materials via Interfolio. Include the following items: 1) CV including a list of publications; 2) a short summary of your present and future research interests; 3) a list of three references and their contact information.
