Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Physics, Nanoscience and Technology, or a closely related field with an emphasis on ultrafast spectroscopy, optics, or scanning probe microscopy instrumentation.Preferred Qualifications:● Research training and experience in coherent and multidimensional spectroscopy, ultrafast two-dimensional (2D) spectroscopy, and/or the development of advanced optical and spectroscopic instrumentation.● Hands-on experience with ultrafast laser systems, nonlinear optics, and the design, alignment, and optimization of optical setups.● Experience with atomic force microscopy (AFM)-based infrared/vibrational spectroscopy or related nanoscale spectroscopy techniques.● Proficiency in instrument control, data acquisition, and data analysis using tools such as LabView, Python or MATLAB.● A record of peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team.● Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.Brief Description of Duties:

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Xiaoji Xu, in the Department of Chemistry, contributing to an active research program in combining ultrafast two-dimensional spectroscopy with AFM, as well as the development of advanced optical and nanoscale spectroscopic instrumentation. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of coherent, multidimensional, and ultrafast spectroscopy, including the design, construction, and maintenance of associated optical, laser, and microscopy instrumentation.● Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in spectroscopy and instrumentation to analyze the collected data, with numerical models.● Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.● Assist in training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and data analysis.● Lab maintenance, including maintenance of lasers, optics, and related equipment and ordering of supplies as needed.● Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.Special Notes:

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
