POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE

New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to work with Professor Phillip M. Rauscher.

The research group where the position resides is recognized for outstanding work in chemical physics, statistical thermodynamics, and machine learning.

Responsibilities

Candidates will be responsible for leading research projects to develop AI models for predicting and designing complex molecular formulations. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Acquire or generate thermophysical property data either from literature mining, high throughput experiment, or molecular simulations.

  2. Write, maintain, and disseminate software and/or AI models developed during the project.

  3. Report findings and results in peer reviewed journals and conferences

  4. Mentor and assist graduate and undergraduate students within the research group.

  5. Contribute to the development of research proposals and collaborative projects, including federal and industry-sponsored funding opportunities.

Salary range

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000, or more, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in chemistry, engineering, physics or a related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in machine learning, physical chemistry, and thermodynamics as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience in agentic AI research is desired.
