Job Description:

The Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy (POP) at the University of Florida seeks candidates for a post-doctoral position in pharmaceutical outcomes. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Health Outcomes, Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Health Services Research, or Epidemiology with a focus on health outcomes, and equipped with a passion for advancing healthcare research and a commitment to excellence.

This position provides a unique opportunity for professional growth and mentorship in a vibrant academic environment. The successful candidate will train and work directly under the mentorship and supervision of UF College of Pharmacy, Professor, Dr. Haesuk Park. Dr. Park is an experienced and award recognized mentor. The successful candidate will join our large group of trainees in the POP department at the University of Florida, the flagship academic research institution of the State of Florida. POP is housed on the UF Health Science Campus in Gainesville, forming with all health colleges and UF Health Shands Hospital, the largest academic health center in the Southeast.

As a postdoc in pharmaceutical outcomes, you will have the unique opportunity to train under the expert mentorship of Dr. Haesuk Park, an esteemed Professor and renowned mentor in the field. You will become a valued member of our dynamic and collaborative research community within the POP department at the University of Florida. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include conducting literature reviews, analyzing large healthcare claims or electronic health record data (e.g., data cleaning and variable creation), applying data mining techniques, performing statistical analyses, and contributing to manuscript preparation. Candidates will also assist faculty or students with statistical analysis on ongoing research or new research. Candidates will have experience with statistical or data mining software (e.g., SAS, Stata, R, Python) and analyzing data from a range of projects related to pharmacoepidemiology, medication utilization, and health outcomes.

Data Management:

  • Perform database management, statistical analyses and manipulations using SAS or R.
  • Provide data programming and analytic support on a range of research projects.
  • Develop and implement programs within EPIC system.
  • Preparation of presentations and manuscripts.

Statistical Analysis:

  • Conduct analyses using advanced statistical methods.
  • Support study design, analysis plan data collection, and grant application.
  • Write statistical programming code in SAS (preferred), R, or STATA.
  • Conduct and participate in study review and data security and quality monitoring.

Laboratory Management:

  • Interpret administrative regulations including HIPAA and policies related to statistical research studies.
  • Recommend new and improved programs to effectively manage studies.
  • Assure laboratory staff are in compliance with HIPAA regulations and other federal confidentiality standards.


Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

PhD degree in Health Outcomes, Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Health Services Research, or Epidemiology with a focus on health outcomes.


Preferred:

A background in pharmacy or similar clinical expertise is preferred but not required. Candidates are expected to have experience analyzing healthcare data (e.g., claims, EHR). Strong programming skills are highly desirable, depending on the specific topic areas of interest (e.g., R, Python, SAS). Strong writing and problem-solving skills are preferred. Training and experience in conducting machine learning analyses is preferred.
