The Korley lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to work in Professor LaShanda Korley’s lab.

Prof. LaShanda Korley’s group in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NYU Tandon and the Center for Plastics Innovation (CPI) strives to develop chemical conversion strategies and new sustainable material platforms to transform plastics manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible for the following:
Executing experimental research for this project under the direction of Prof. Korley focused on the deconstruction and subsequent generation of valorized materials from plastics waste.
Perform molecular and macromolecular characterization, thermal and mechanical analysis, and processing experiments as necessary to demonstrate materials and process feasibility. The overall objective is to valorize waste products to enhance polymer sustainability efforts.
Collaborate with academic and industrial collaborators as necessary.
Provide substantial input in project directions in consultation with Prof. Korley.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as mutually agreed between the candidate and Prof. Korley.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $75,000 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.
Candidates should have a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Immunology or a related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
The successful candidate will have a strong demonstrated background in strong polymer science (polymer characterization, processing, and physics) as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience in plastics recycling and sustainable materials design is preferred.
