The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to research in superconducting circuits, qubits, and quantum sensing.
This project focuses on the development of superconducting qubits and circuits for use in quantum sensing experiments. The successful candidate will design, fabricate, and characterize superconducting transmon qubits and related devices, with measurements performed in a millikelvin dilution refrigerator. The researcher will collaborate closely with team members and external partners to carry out quantum sensing experiments and to develop reinforcement learning approaches that improve qubit performance and operation.
This work will leverage CNM’s state-of-the-art facilities and capabilities, including the CNM cleanroom for nanofabrication and the dilution refrigerator in the Quantum Matter and Device Lab for low-temperature quantum experiments.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative research team and work closely with scientists at Argonne, the University of Chicago, and partner institutions. Candidates should have a strong background in experimental physics, engineering, or a related field. Experience in qubit control and measurement, superconducting circuits, nanofabrication, and low-temperature experiments is strongly preferred.
