Coordinates all activities between the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the institution.
Delivers and picks up all mail.
Receives USPS and united parcel service (UPS) packages and coordinate delivery to the institutional property officer.
The postal center Director actively directs and supervises the inspection of all mail for contraband.
Maintains and interprets SCDC policies and USPS regulations concerning mail in an institutional environment.
Maintains records of money instruments received and/or returned.
Coordinates activities of E. H. cooper trust fund.
Research records for the location of inmates in an effort to handle the mail properly.
Actively direct and supervises the receiving and distribution of USPS and department mail.
Actively directs and supervises the activities of both incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
Plans and schedules work assignments and employee training.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
An associate degree or higher with one (1) year of supervisory experience may be substituted for the required work experience.
Must become a notary within 90 days of accepting the position.
