• Coordinates all activities between the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the institution.

• Delivers and picks up all mail.

• Receives USPS and united parcel service (UPS) packages and coordinate delivery to the institutional property officer.

• The postal center Director actively directs and supervises the inspection of all mail for contraband.

• Maintains and interprets SCDC policies and USPS regulations concerning mail in an institutional environment.

• Maintains records of money instruments received and/or returned.

• Coordinates activities of E. H. cooper trust fund.

• Research records for the location of inmates in an effort to handle the mail properly.

• Actively direct and supervises the receiving and distribution of USPS and department mail.

• Actively directs and supervises the activities of both incoming and outgoing mail and packages.

• Plans and schedules work assignments and employee training.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

• A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations with one (1) year of supervisory experience.

• An associate degree or higher with one (1) year of supervisory experience may be substituted for the required work experience.

Must become a notary within 90 days of accepting the position.
