  • Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail.

  • Coordinates agency postal services.

  • Supervises employees engaged in mail handling tasks.

  • Maintains records of insured and registered mail; maintains billing records.

  • Requires knowledge of Policies, regulations and procedures for handling mail, knowledge of filing systems and the maintenance of office records.

  • Also requires use of postal meters and scales.

  • Corresponding detailed records; reports transactions to SCDC financial accounting branch.

  • Ensures Inmate legal mail is received and distributed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

  • Assists with coordinating postage meter maintenance and replenishment and postage meter monthly summary reports.

  • Performs mailroom duties in the absence of the postal director

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

  • A high school diploma and one (1) year of work experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations.
  • An associate's degree or higher may be substituted for the required work experience.
