Subject Matter Expert/Customer Engineer Role Description The Customer Engineer is a dynamic role that is inherently cross-functional. You will work directly with customers, TAC, sales, product management, and internal engineering team(s) to design, deliver and debug turnkey networking solutions to solve service provider’s scale and capacity challenges as they approach 5G, next-gen internet, and data centre deployments. As the customer-facing technical lead, you will understand customer requirements and present solutions to help build service provider networks. You will plan, scope, design, build and demonstrate solutions and support product deployments of the largest ISPs and Telco customers. You will help TAC junior engineers to debug complex production issues for service provider and data centre deployments including EVPN solutions. You will create debugging best practices and train junior TAC engineers.
Primary Responsibilities
● Lead the engagements for our most strategic projects by working with customers, internal teams, and partners to scope, design, develop and prove solutions for service provider and data center networks.
● Develop production deployment and migration plans to help deploy solutions at scale.
● Collaborate with the product teams to define platform requirements and product plans for next-generation solutions
● Educate customers and partners on the products and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure their solutions are designed for successful deployment
● Work proactively to resolve technical issues for customer’s production deployments
● Develop unique, compelling, and exciting design and debug best practices and train junior TAC engineers.
Basic Qualifications
● Strong knowledge of L2/IP/MPLS networks
● 7+ years of experience in pre-sales or post-sales customer-facing role with hands-on experience ● Business level English and technical presentation skills
● Experience with telecom system software architecture and approaches including supporting production design and deployments at ISPs and/or Telcos
● CCIE(Switching and Routing/Service Provider/Data Center) or equivalent qualification. ○ Equivalent can be JNCIE, CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert), Huawei, Nokia, Arista, Dell or other.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
● Computer Sc or equivalent engineering/technical degree.
● Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects in global organizations.
● Experience working with Reliance,, Orange, Vodafone, DT, Liberty Global, BT or other Tier 1 carriers.
● Experience with executing technical and/or design wins with service providers like Spectra, ACT, NetOmnia, VTS, major AltNets in Europe or other regional ISPs/carriers.
● Experience planning and executing technical demonstrations and proof of concepts including field trials with service providers.
● Experience with 4G/5G, optical transport, and/or provider edge/aggregation deployments.
● Working knowledge and experience with networking systems (Juniper, CISCO, Huawei, Ciena, Infinera, Nokia).
